Dermo is an educational tool, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The information provided by Dermo should never be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Not a diagnosis

Dermo uses artificial intelligence to provide general information and risk estimates about skin lesions. AI can be wrong. A risk assessment from Dermo:

  • Is not a medical diagnosis.
  • Does not replace a clinical examination by a qualified dermatologist.
  • Should not be used to delay seeking medical care.

When to see a doctor

Always consult a qualified healthcare professional if you notice any of the following:

  • A new mole or skin spot that is changing in size, shape, or colour.
  • A lesion that bleeds, itches, or does not heal.
  • A spot that looks different from your other moles.
  • Any skin change that worries you, regardless of what Dermo says.

In Norway you can contact your fastlege (GP) or call 116 117 for non-emergency medical help. In an emergency, call 113.

Limitations of AI

Dermo's AI is trained on dermatology image datasets, but it has limits. It can miss serious conditions and it can flag harmless ones. Photo quality, lighting, skin tone, and lesion type all affect accuracy. We show confidence scores so you can see how certain (or uncertain) the model is, but a low-risk score never means "you are safe".
