Dermo is a tool, not a medical device. The app is not meant to be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The information you get from Dermo should never replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Not a diagnosis

Dermo uses artificial intelligence to provide general information and risk estimates about skin lesions. AI can be wrong. A risk assessment from Dermo:

  • Is not a medical diagnosis.
  • Does not replace a clinical examination by a qualified dermatologist.
  • Should not be used as a reason to delay seeking medical care.

When to see a doctor

Always consult a doctor or other healthcare professional if you notice any of the following:

  • A new mole or skin spot that is changing in size, shape, or colour.
  • A lesion that bleeds, itches, or does not heal.
  • A spot that looks clearly different from your other moles.
  • Any skin change that worries you, regardless of what Dermo might say.

In Norway, you can contact your GP (fastlege), or call 116 117 for non-emergency medical help. In an emergency, call 113.

Limitations of AI

Dermo's AI is trained on dermatology image datasets, but it has its limits. It can both miss serious conditions and flag harmless ones. Photo quality, lighting, skin tone, and lesion type all affect accuracy. We show how confident the model is in its assessment, but a low risk level never guarantees that you're safe.

Use at your own risk
